I've always believed that change is a good thing. Admittedly, it's not always the case if you don't want to change, but but sometimes the only way to change a situation is to try something different.
Two and two will always be four. If you want the answer to be five, you can't keep adding two and two together and hope that one day the result will be different. If you want the result to be different, you have to change one of the numbers - you have to initiate the change.
Running Otters Pool Studio from our beautiful building in College Road has been the way of life for over 40 years, but just recently the cost of materials and overheads have increased to the point where we were having to work all hours to cover them - and this wasn't sustainable. So, we initiated a change.
For the last 3 weeks, we have been working from our new workshop in the Mayford Centre for the first time. It's different. Very different. We have just enough room for our machinery and equipment, and have use of the facilities that the centre has to offer. The result is that with lower overheads, we are not pushed to squeeze every drop of productivity out of a 10 hour working day, but instead can take our time to give our customers the best quality product and best quality service that we can, and on the side get more quality time with our family.
It's still us - it's still Otters Pool Studio. It's just changed.
