Recycling

At Otters Pool Studio, we do whatever we can to reduce the amount of waste we produce.  The most efficient means of achieving this is through recycling.

Wood Chippings

Wood chipping waste generated when cutting frame moulding is bagged and left for our customers to take and use as they see fit.  We suggest a small charitable donation when taking wood chippings.

Wood offcuts

Short lengths of wood too short for frame making are bundled and left for our customers to take and use as they see fit, usually on wood burning stoves and fires.  We suggest a small charitable donation when taking wood chippings.

Mountcard waste

Offcuts of mountcard too small for us to use are bagged and given to the local schools and charitable organisations for their craft making activites.  Mounts that we cut but reject are left for our customers (particularly artists) to help themselves to.  We suggest a small charitable donation when taking pre-cut reject mounts.  Mountcard scraps enter the cardboard recycling process.

Glass Waste

Glass scraps are boxed in specialist glass waste boxes and removed by our Environment Agency licenced glass recycling contractor.

Backing board

Where possible we use a cardboard based backing board rather than MDF.  Scraps can then enter the cardboard recycling process.

Cardboard

All of the cardboard packaging around materials delivered to us are reused to package finished picture frames.  In some cases we even take large waste (but clean) cardboard panels from other businesses in the area to package customer frames.  Scrap cardboard enters the cardboard recycling process.
